Cops are looking for a man who tried to rape an unconscious woman on the Lower East Side this week.
According to police, at around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, the suspect approached the 21-year-old victim in the vicinity of Suffolk Street and Stanton Street. There, a witness saw him take off his pants and underwear and lie on top of the unconscious woman while he attempted to take off her shorts.
A witness yelled at the suspect, who then fled the scene. The victim, an LES resident, was taken to Beth Israel hospital, where she was treated and later released.
The suspect is described as a male, 40 to 45 years old, 5'5" to 5'7" tall, weighing 180lbs., with black hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and black pants. You can see surveillance video of the suspect below:
