Some of New York's Finest took their own polar bear plunge in the Hudson River today in an effort to save a dog that had fallen in. The 4-year-old German Shepherd jumped from its home, a three-bedroom catamaran docked at Chelsea Piers, where it lives with its humans and another dog. According to the NY Post, Chloe the dog was stuck under the dock at Chelsea Piers Marina, near the driving range, at around 10:30 this morning. Turns out Chloe had jumped ship and was in the water for 30 minutes before her owner Mark Stoss spotted her (he was at court beating a dog-walking ticket!). He told the paper, "[I thought] that sounds like my dog. I looked everywhere and I couldn’t see her, finally I looked in the water and she was stuck under the dock. I started screaming ‘Call 911! Call 911!’"
Stoss says the cops "had a diver ready to go and he jumped in and got her un-wedged. She was stuck pretty good. The dock was floating up and down and I thought it was going to crush her."
Since being saved Chloe has been given a hot bath and is recovering nicely!
