The NYPD on Thursday released surveillance footage of a man they are seeking in connection to a murder outside of the Barclays Center on Wednesday night.

Police initially said they were seeking a heavy-set man with long hair and a white beard, citing witness reports and security camera footage.

Now, police say they are seeking a man in his 40s with a light complexion, last seen wearing a dark colored jacket, jeans and shoes and a white shirt. A spokeswoman for the department said Friday that the initial description was preliminary.

According to the NYPD, 47-year-old Steve Vargas was found lying down at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and 4th Avenue at around 8:20 p.m Wednesday. He'd suffered one stab wound and multiple gunshots to the abdomen, police said, and was rushed to Brooklyn Hospital Center, where he died.
