The NYPD has released surveillance video of the man who shot a law student from California in the back of the head on 58th Street yesterday afternoon. The video released to the public does not show the fatal shooting, but the NYPD also released a still from the video that shows the perpetrator approaching the victim, Brandon Lincoln Woodard, from behind. In the still above you can see the suspect pulling the silver semiautomatic pistol from his pocket as Woodard types a text message.

According to the NYPD, "The shooter, who appears to be bald and may have a beard, exited a late model Lincoln sedan, initially bare-headed, but soon pulled the hood of his jacket over his head. Ten minutes later, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the shooter walked up behind Woodard and fired." The shooter then returned to the passenger seat of the car and was driven south on 7th Avenue.
