Police are searching for a 10-year-old girl who was last seen at her Lower East Side school. It's believed her mother, who does not have custody of her, took her.

According to police, Celine Melanie Hicks was last spotted at Castle Middle School (220 Henry Street) at 1 p.m. yesterday: "She was in the company of her mother, who picked up the child from her school. The mother does not have custody of her daughter and left the location with the child. The child currently resides with another family member."

Police describe Celine as 5'4" tall and weighs 120 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a yellow school uniform shirt with Castle Middle School embroidered on the front.

Her mother is Jacqueline Hendricks, 39, who is 5'5" tall, medium build, with brown eyes and brown hair. The suspect may be operating a 1993 white Chevrolet Lumina with New Mexico registration #NGG506. Hendricks is wanted for custodial interference.

The Daily News reports that Hendricks was also with Hicks' father, Carlos Hicks, 42.
