Police are hoping the public can help them find a livery cab passenger who they say attacked his driver and tried to rob him in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

According to the NYPD, police officers were called to the NSA Supermarket at 631 Gates Avenue on Wednesday, March 16th, before 7 p.m. They say: "A livery cab driver picked up the person of interest at the corner of Nostrand Avenue and Fulton Street. Upon reaching the destination of Gates Avenue and Throop Avenue the person of interest exited the cab and approached the driver from the driver's side front door and demanded money from the driver. The suspect proceeded to open the car door and pulled the driver out and began to assault punching the victim about the face and striking the victim several times with an unknown object."

The suspect, who didn't take anything from the driver, fled south on Gates Avenue. The driver was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.
