Police are looking for a robbery suspect who escaped from custody in East Harlem Saturday as officers attempted to put him into their patrol car.

Just before 12:30 p.m. Saturday, officers had taken the male suspect, who was accused of shoplifting at a Duane Reade, and were, police say, "placing him into a vehicle in front of 50 East 102 Street when he fled from the officers heading eastbound on East 102 Street."

Authorities say the suspect was "rear-cuffed at the time of arrest" and released surveillance videos of him. They described him as being 5'11" tall and 150 pounds with a thin build; he was last seen wearing an olive green waist length jacket, green hoodie, gray sweat pants, and a black V-neck shirt.
