A man was shot in London today after allegedly stabbing a police officer and trying to storm Parliament, and pedestrians were run over by a driver in a 4x4 car on the nearby Westminster Bridge. The Metropolitan Police says it's "treating this as a terrorist incident until we know otherwise."

One woman who was on Westminster Bridge has died. BBC News reports, "A doctor at St Thomas' Hospital said a number of other people were hurt - some with 'catastrophic' injuries." The NY Times says, "It was not immediately clear if the motorist was also the knife assailant, but the knife attack and the ramming on the bridge quickly stoked fears of terrorism."

The NYPD is increasing its presence at locations with British connections in NYC. According to ABC 7, those locations include British Consulate and United Nations Mission.

Update: CBS News reports, "NYPD is bringing in 'heavy weapons' to Grand Central, City Hall and other locations in wake of attack near UK Parliament."
