The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating an unprovoked assault that occurred on a Tribeca sidewalk last month, in which a woman allegedly yelled, "White bitch, take that!" before hitting another woman with a metal box.
It happened shortly before noon on May 31st in front of 77 Warren Street. Police say the suspect struck a 57-year-old woman with a metal box and shouted, "White bitch, take that!" Then the suspect fled west on Warren Street.
The victim, who reportedly didn't say anything to the suspect before the attack, suffered a laceration to her face and was taken to NYU Langone Medical Center for treatment.
Police describe the suspect as being 30-40 years old, who was last seen wearing a blue jacket, light colored pants and she carried a black shoulder and a silver and black metal box.
