After sucker-punching a man on a Bronx street corner, two men walked away and then came back to take cell phone photos of his unconscious body. Others took the opportunity to rifle through the victim's pockets, according to police.
The victim's skull was fractured in the assault. Security camera footage also shows the suspects high-fiving after the attack.
The incident took place last week, on June 18th around 6 a.m. According to the NYPD, a 37-year-old man was walking near Aqueduct Avenue and Buchanan Place when he was "approached by two unidentified individuals. One of the individuals then punched the victim in the head, causing him to fall to the ground in the middle of the intersection. The individuals then walked away."
While the victim was on the ground, unconscious, other people on the sidewalk started to "go through his pockets, removing his cell phone and identification," police say.
After leaving the scene a second time, another security camera caught the attackers in a joyful mood. Police released footage of the attack and suspects:
The victim suffered a fractured skull and was taken to St. Barnabas hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.
Police say the person who punched the victim is a male in his 20s with a medium build, black hair, and a black, trimmed beard. He has tattoos on both of his forearms and was last seen wearing a yellow baseball hat with a triangle shaped logo, a white T-shirt, denim shorts and black sneakers with yellow trim.
The second person police are looking for is described as being in his 20s with a slim build, black hair and a black beard. He has a tattoo on his right forearm and was last seen wearing a light blue Yankees baseball hat, a light blue t-shirt and a yellow T-shirt, a black belt around his torso, camouflage cargo pants and black boots.
