NYC's unemployment rate is now at 5.7 percent—the lowest it's been in seven years. Somehow this news got buried under the topless women of Times Square.

Nearly 10,000 jobs were added between June and July, causing the unemployment rate to drop from 6.1 percent.

107,800 private sector jobs were added by the city this year, representing a 3 percent increase, Crain's reports. In 2013, it was notable that the unemployment rate edged from 7.6 to 7.5 percent.

The national unemployment rate is currently at 5.3 percent.
