The NY State Department of Labor released the latest job numbers (PDF), and NY State's unemployment rate for May was 8.3%, down from April's 8.4% (the lowest since April 2009). And for NYC, the rate was 9.6% in May, vs. 9.8% in April. According to the Wall Street Journal, "New York City added 14,700 private-sector jobs last month, which is in line with the historical average for May, [a Labor Department economist] said. It was city's fifth consecutive month of growth."
