Wow, Andrea Peyser sure did miss Eliot Spitzer. After revelations that the (still-married) former governor is dating Lis Smith, the former spokeswoman for his failed comptroller campaign, she really lets loose in one of her trademark insane NY Post columns. "This is not just any ordinary bimbo," Peyser warns the world.

Smith, you see, now works for Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio (she joined his campaign after Spitzer lost the primary). Peyser continues:

Lis, who presumably does not charge Eliot for services rendered, was communications director for Bill de Blasio’s successful campaign for mayor, and is currently a member of the mayor-elect’s transition team — plus, she is considered the front-runner for the job of de Blasio’s official spokeswoman. On Monday, de Blasio praised her work and defended Lis’ right to privacy, but did not say what her future holds...

Don’t underestimate Lis’ status as a hot and fit political insider. She was Eliot’s spokeswoman during his disastrous primary campaign for city comptroller this year. But she previously wielded Twitter to vanquish foes of President Obama as a “rapid response’’ operator during the prez’s 2012 re-election campaign.

The union of the ambitious, youngish cookie and the megarich heir to Daddy’s real-estate empire has cemented New York’s image as a sexual mosh pit in which male politicians (Spitzer, Anthony Weiner) forget their marriage vows, and women use married degenerates to advance their careers.

Guess she remembers how the Post hired Spitzer's hooker, Ashley Dupre, as a sex columnist! Anyway, Peyser says if "de Blasio has a lick of sense in his 6-foot-5 frame, he won't keep Smith on because of her "freaky fetish for the black knee socks and balding pate of married ex-Love Gov Eliot Spitzer."

Alexis Grenell, a Democratic strategist, has an op-ed in the Daily News worrying about this: "Smith has been transformed from an accomplished adult into a 'leggy' sexpot and her professional future called into question because her choice of romantic partner raises eyebrows. In reality, Smith is just another casualty of the persistent cultural sexism that slut-shames women for having a sex life and being smart, too. Eliot Spitzer may be a poor choice of paramour — but Smith is perfectly entitled, just like lots of other New Yorkers, to pick her own partners and then get up and go to work in the morning."

Smith, 31, wasn't present at de Blasio's press conference yesterday. The Daily News tries to get to the bottom of when she and Spitzer, a 54-year-old (married) father of three, started their romance: A political insider tells them "She was telling people she had a boyfriend. That’s why she stayed in New York [after the failed comptroller campaign]. She was telling people it was serious, very serious."

In a separate article, the Post wants to make everyone knows which way Smith swings: "'She definitely dates men in positions of power and politics,' a source said. 'She’s not a girl’s girl. She doesn’t have any girlfriends.'" (Which the Post calculates to mean slutbag, right?) One of her ex-boyfriends is former Missouri State Senator Jeff Smith who was convicted for federal elections law violations.

For those keeping flow charts of Post columnist insanity at home, Peyser's other recent column is how former adulterer Donald Trump should totally run for governor.
