On Tuesday, we reported on a bizarre incident at an Upper East Side parking garage in which a car had fallen down the elevator shaft; yesterday, it was reported that the driver of the Lexus RX 350 that plunged five stories and nearly crushed another worker will not face charges, despite the fact that he was driving with a suspended license at the time of the accident.
According to the NYPD, 21 year old City Valet employee Steven Morales, has had his license suspended eleven times, which is something to keep in mind next time you drop your car off at that parking garage down the street. After Tuesday's accident, he was arrested for driving without a license, but prosecutors have since decided not to charge him.
Morales was treated at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center for head injuries following the incident, along with an employee who was inside the elevator when the Morales and the vehicle came crushing down. Luckily, neither worker's injuries were life-threatening, though it seems like the same can't be said for the car.
