There is currently no Amtrak service between Connecticut and New York, following a freight train derailment in Hunts Point in the Bronx.

The FDNY tells us the freight train derailed at around 10:05 this morning, at Garrison Avenue and Longwood Avenue. No injuries have been reported, but service is temporarily suspended between New York and Connecticut. Amtrak is encouraging riders to take Metro-North instead.

Riders currently onboard trains in the region are, unsurprisingly, delayed.

NBC reports that eight of the freight train's cars derailed. Thankfully no hazardous materials were spilled in the incident.

It's unclear when service will return but check back for updates.
