A 15-year-old from Edison, NJ was killed in a car accident early Tuesday morning that claimed the lives of two other people, and investigators say they found a suicide note written on the teen's arm. It's believed he intentionally caused the crash in order to kill himself.
Authorities say Srijan Saha, 15, was killed around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, driving his parents' Honda Civic into oncoming traffic on Route 27. According to police, he struck a Nissan Altima head on; it was carrying Edison residents Mohammed Zia, 46, and his brother-in-law Ali Behzad, 36. Behzad and Saha were pronounced dead at the scene, and Zia was transported to an area hospital, where he died a few hours later. Family members say Behzad and Zia, who were each fathers with three children, were out for a late-night cup of coffee at the time.
Saha had reportedly taken his parents' car without permission, and investigators say they discovered a suicide note written on his arm, though they have not released details regarding its content. They are now treating the crash as a suicide/homicide.
Saha was a student at John P. Stevens High School; the school memorialized him with a moment of silence yesterday. "The police investigation is active and continuing and at this time we ask everyone to continue to keep those killed in this tragic incident and their families in their thoughts and prayers," Superintendent Richard O'Malley said in a statement.
