The man whose girlfriend's remains were found floating in waters off Brooklyn and Manhattan was arrested yesterday by New Jersy law enforcement, after an investigation with the NYPD. Raphael Lolos was arrested on Thursday and was charged with murder and desecration of human remains, as well as hindering apprehension, credit card fraud and stalking.

On June 27th, the NYPD said that a woman's body—apparently a headless torso— was found in Brooklyn, by Gowanus Bay and Buttermilk Channel, and authorities released an image of a Sanskrit tattoo in hopes someone would be able to identify her.

A New Jersey woman's mother came forward, saying her missing daughter had a similar tattoo, as a tribute to a late aunt.

A jogger spotted a leg with a foot, with pink-painted toenails, in the Hudson River near the West 79th Street Boat Basin on July 1st.

Family and friends of Jennifer Londono, 31, worried that the body parts belonged to her, as reports emerged that blood was found in her boyfriend's bathtub. Londono was last seen closing Luna Lounge, a bar she managed in Englewood, NJ on June 25th.

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor, NYPD detectives contacted his office and they began a joint probe that led them to believe Lolos killed Londono. Grewal said. "In the days following the murder, Lolos consistently and repeatedly used Londono's credit cards until the time of his arrest on July 6th, 2017."

Lolos allegedly had "inconsistencies" in his story when previously questioned by police. NorthJersey.com reports that he was found in a motel and "was arrested without incident."

When he was taken into custody, authorities say that Lolos "suffered a medical episode and was initially transported via ambulance to Bergen Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment and was subsequently brought to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he is receiving medical treatment while in the custody of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office."

During a vigil this week, a friend said, "For the past few days, I try to close my eyes every night, just to think that this is a dream and she's gonna come back."

Lolos will be arraigned when he is discharged. A funeral service is being held for Londono tonight in Englewood.
