The New Yorker's giving Chris Christie the cover treatment next week thanks to the spectacular George Washington Bridge gridlock scandal, and the Barry Blitt-penned cartoon really brings the LOLZ. Paul Ryan's already adding a framed version to the magazine cover collection on his Presidential Victory Mantlepiece.
The cartoon, titled "Playing in Traffic," features a childlike Christie bouncing a ball on the GWB, blocking off a crop of cars. "I’m hoping this cartoon diverts a lot of traffic to my Web site," Blitt told the magazine.
Upon hearing of the cover, Christie said he had "no knowledge or involvement" in the purchase of those shorteralls and promptly apologized to the entire first grade class at Fort Lee Public School 1, his presence backing up Hess toy truck traffic all the way to the cubbyholes.
