Two years ago Manhattanites were faced with the threat of a new area code for new loser New Yorkers, and it appears next month that dystopian nightmare will become a reality—the state’s Public Service Commission says the 332 area code will start rolling out in the borough starting June 10th.
Indeed, this city is so overflowing with transplants and area code hoarders that Manhattan's already exhausted 917, 646, and the coveted 212, so now a new area code will service landlines in the area. The boroughs will continue to be serviced by 718, 347, 929, and 917, but give it time.
For those of you who are old enough to have a landline and lucky enough to have a 212 area code (hi Mom and Dad!), NEVER CHANGE IT, for those babies are nearly as status-heavy as an Hermes bag, not that I know what that is.
