All of the children were shot with a "long rifle," likely from the .223-caliber Bushmaster rifle Adam Lanza had taken from his mother earlier that day. Most of the children suffered multiple gunshot wounds, with some of the children hit as many as 11 times. Most of those kids were first graders.

Three of the staff members who were killed included Principal Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung, school psychologist Mary Sherlach, and first grade teacher Victoria Soto. The Washington Post has begun collecting memorials and bios of the victims here.

There are also lots of Facebook memorials, donations, and articles popping up for victims including: Olivia Engel, Ana Marquez-Greene (daughter of Jazz saxophonist Jimmy Greene, who wrote this song for her), Dawn Hochsprung, Jesse Lewis, and Emilie Parker.
