So sad. Last night an apparent murder-suicide in Bayonne, New Jersey, left four people (including a baby) dead and a fifth being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. According to Bayonne Mayor Mark Smith the shooting, "a tragedy and a senseless loss of life for the family and the community as a whole," was performed by one man who shot the two adults, the baby and then himself. The baby, a boy, was 14 months old.

The shootings occurred around 8 p.m. last night and were, according to neighbors, the result of a domestic dispute. It is not currently clear if the gunman killed himself before the police arrived or after. But when they got to the scene of the crime at 96 Avenue A they found a woman outside bleeding. Between 15 and 20 shots were fired in total.

According to an e-mail from the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office obtained by the Star-Ledger, "the gunman was identified as 28-year-old Adepso Collado. The 28-year-old apparently shot his estranged wife, 26-year-old Kenia Collado, 31-year-old Jose Guzman and Guzman's 14-month old son Matthew." Two other children were in the building at the time of the shooting, but escaped unharmed. The fifth, surviving, shooting victim was a 25-year-old live-in baby sitter hired by Kenia Collado.

According to sources "Adepso and Kenia Collado had been estranged for roughly six months" and were getting a divorce. Jose Guzman and Kenia Collado, a phlebotomist and technology consultant working on her nursing degree, had reportedly been seeing each other. She leaves behind three daughters.
