At around 5 a.m., a Mercedes Benz traveling northbound on 6th Avenue crashed into a hotel shuttle bus on 50th Street, right outside Radio City Music Hall. The police tell us that the Mercedes driver was taken into police custody on suspicion of DWI and charges are pending.

The authorities shut down lanes of 6th Avenue while investigating the crash. The bus's five passengers (including driver) were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, however three of the people were said to be in "critical condition". WCBS 2 also reports, "Witnesses told 1010 WINS that a dozen bystanders helped free a man pinned under the van by lifting up the flipped-over van."

A witness told the Post, "I was driving up Sixth Ave and I just heard an explosion. I saw the van on its side and about six people who got thrown out were being crushed underneath it." He said that he and 15 other people tried to lift the van, "Honestly I don’t know if they’re going to survive. It was the loudest explosion - all I saw was the big van, and I just heard it screeching."

NBC New York reports, "One witness also said the car appeared to be racing another car up Sixth AVenue, but police could not confirm."
