An MTA bus driver was assaulted and robbed by a man while she was operating the bus on Delancey Street near the FDR Drive last night.

Police say they received a call about an on-duty bus driver who was robbed at around 8:35 p.m. The driver had let off passengers from the M14D bus when a man jumped onto the bus, punched her a number of times, and then took her purse.

The driver was taken to NY Downtown Hospital. The Transit Workers' Union's safety director described her as "traumatized" and added that her face has many lacerations. The police are still investigating the robbery.
