An MTA employee was arrested on Sunday after two girls reported that a man exposed himself to them in separate incidents. The suspect was wearing an MTA hat in one incident, while he wore an MTA patch in the other.

According to the NYPD, the first public lewdness incident took place last Monday, October 8th, at 4:30 p.m., near Ridge Boulevard and Fort Hamilton Park in Brooklyn. A 14-year-old girl who was walking with a friend was allegedly approached by a male individual driving gray a Toyota minivan. Police say he asked for directions and exposed himself while speaking with the girl.

On October 11th, around 4:30 p.m., police say an 11-year-old girl was on Colonial Road when a male individual in a parked dark-colored SUV asked her for directions to McDonald's and asked her come inside the vehicle to help him with directions. Then, when she came closer to him, he allegedly exposed himself.

The girl in the first incident described the suspect as having a mushroom style haircut and wearing a Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) hat, while the second girl described the suspect as wearing a light blue button down shirt with a Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) patch on his shoulder.

Matthew Wohlfahrt, 28, was charged with multiple counts of public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child—plus grand larceny. The NY Post reports that "in one of the incidents he grabbed a victim’s phone, cops said. The girl was able to take it back from him before she ran off."

Apparently both girls identified him ina police line-up, after the police "were able to identify Wohlfahrt’s car and track him to his house," according to the Post.

The girl in the second incident told the Daily News, "I was walking home from school and I was on my way to dance and this guy approached me in his car and he was asking me where McDonald's was... I just pointed down the block, because it was only two blocks down. I kept saying it was two blocks down."

She then approached Wohlfahrt’s car, “which I shouldn't have,” she admitted. “I just showed him where it was. And then he grabbed my phone out of my hand."

She began to sob as she recounted what happened next.

"I went to grab (my phone) back and I saw he was masturbating in his car," the girl said through tears. "Then I just grabbed my phone back from his hand and I started walking away. Then he kept yelling at me from his car, like following me, and saying, 'I'm not done yet.'"

She then called 911, and her father told reporters that Wohlfahrt was lucky to be arrested, "I was enraged. I would've loved to have found him."

The MTA has removed Wohlfahrt, a probationary bus driver, from duty without pay.
