A motorcyclist died after being struck by a cab and pinned up against a tour bus in Harlem yesterday. Police say that at around 1:38 p.m., 53-year-old Juan Velez was riding his Yamaha motorcycle east on Lenox Avenue when he was struck by a yellow cab at the intersection of Lenox and West 125th Street. Velez was pinned against a City Sights tour bus that was stopped at a red light. “The motorcyclist looked like he was crucified on the side of the bus,” a witness told the Post. “I yelled to the cab driver, ‘Move back, move back.’ When he did, the bicyclist fell to the ground.”
Witnesses said that Velez was attempting to make a U-turn at the intersection to get out from behind the bus, when the cab struck him. Velez was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital. The 26-year-old cab driver remained at the scene. No charges have been filed as of yet, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
