A 32-year-old Long Island man was killed last night after he was thrown from his bike on the Grand Central Parkway in Queens; he was then struck by an SUV driver.

Police say Adolso Espinal, 32, was traveling westbound on Grand Central Parkway near 165th Street in Jamaica at around 11:47 p.m. yesterday when he struck a bump in the road and fell off his bike. Espinal ended up skidding into the middle lane, and was struck by a 71-year-old driver in a 2014 Honda SUV. Though the driver tried to swerve to avoid him, he was unable to, according to police.

Espinal was transported to Jamaica Hospital and pronounced dead. The driver who struck him stayed at the scene and was not injured; he has not been arrested, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
