A mother and child were found dead in a Harlem apartment this morning, police say.
According to the NYPD, officers responded to a 911 call about a woman in need of help at about 8:15 a.m. When officers arrived at 640 West 153rd Street, they found a 36-year-old woman who was unconscious and unresponsive on the living room floor, with an electric cord around her neck. An unconscious and unresponsive 4-year-old boy was face down submerged in a bathtub.
A NYPD spokesperson said the two were mother and child, and that the medical examiner is determining the causes of death. The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending family notification.
