The developer of the "Ground Zero" mosque has filed a countersuit against a former volunteer firefighter from Westchester named Vincent Forras. Last month Forras filed a $350 million lawsuit against Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf and Park51, claiming that he deserves to be compensated for the "psychological terrorism" and emotional pain he's endured since plans were announced to build an Islamic community center and mosque near the World Trade Center site. The Post reports that the lawsuit describes the project as a "monument to the jihadists' victory over American ideals of freedom and democracy, [and] a desecration of the terrible sacrifice made by those innocents attacked." (Plus, a swimming pool!)

The developers' countersuit seeks to dismiss the filing as a publicity stunt motivated by "blind bigotry." (Forras recently mounted an unsuccessful campaign for Senate in Connecticut.) Speaking of bigotry, yesterday the Times published a thorough profile on right-wing provocateur Pamela Geller, who is one of the mosque's most brazen opponents. The online version is three full pages long, and we only made it through the first page before realizing we were turning dangerously cold and pale from the loss of life-force. But we did learn that Geller lives in a fancy Upper East Side apartment bought with divorce settlement money, and she has a habit of jokingly introducing herself as a "racist-Islamophobic-anti-Muslim-bigot," which is funny 'cuz it's true!
