NJ Transit riders are in for more delays today: following an Amtrak derailment in the Sunnyside Yard in Queens, NJ Transit is reporting delays of up to 30 minutes on the Northeast Corridor and Midtown Direct lines.

Some trains are expected to be canceled or combined to deal with the derailment, which occurred on an Amtrak train with no passengers. Amtrak is reporting 10-15 minute delays in and out of Penn Station. This derailment is the latest in an already frustrating week for commuters, who were previously screwed by a NJ Transit derailment on Tuesday.

Twitter is lighting up, with comments like these: @Seth_Everett: "This is getting absurd. “@eyewitnessnyc: Derailment causing NJ Transit delays" and @BiznessWomanAC: "Amtrak & NJ Transit need to find some new drivers ... too many derailments."
