A warm front passing through the city today produced a thunderstorm that dropped heavy rain across parts of the city this morning. More showers are possible this afternoon, and another round of showers and thunderstorms, some with gusty winds and heavy rain, is likely this evening. Today's high will be in the oppressively muggy mid-80s.

The humidity will slowly drop to more tolerable levels early tomorrow morning once the trailing cold front arrives and the wind starts coming out of the west. This next front is expected to take its time moving from west to east so we could see a few showers linger on until tomorrow afternoon. Because of the slow-moving front we will see a mix of sun and clouds on Saturday and a high in the upper 80s. Mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid 80s are on tap for Sunday and Monday as high pressure builds in.

This return to summer temperatures is not expected to last too long. Right now things are shaping up to give us a hot and humid Tuesday as the high pressure system moves offshore. A significantly cooler air mass is then expected to arrive at the end of next week.
