The Post reports that police are investigating the thefts of about 20 ATM machines in Manhattan. The police suspect several people, since the ATMs weigh 350 pounds each. Hmm. That would take a lot of coordination - especially with a getaway truck of some sort and then the labor to open it up for the money. This sounds like an inside job to Gothamist. But taking money straight from the source is nothing new, as there's news of a bank teller who was busted for taking money from night time deposits. A client noticed that the desposit slips weren't validated and tipped off the bank and police. The police found $190,000 in the bank teller's Queens home; there was so much cash it took the police 10 hours to remove it and invoice it all.

New Yorkish on elusive ATMS in the city.
