A new residential tower planned for the increasingly crowded West 57th Street is poised to become the tallest in the world.

The skyscraper set to rise at 225 West 57th Street will stretch to 1,479 feet above street level, New York YIMBY reports, with a bonus spire putting it at 1,775 feet—just one foot shorter than the World Trade Center. Still, the city will once again boast the "tallest roof" in the country, robbing Chicago of the honor with its pathetic 1,451-foot Willis Tower.

Assuming developers Extell amass the required funds, the Nordstrom Tower will become the latest in a family of super-tall buildings in the area—111 West 57th Street, One57, 432 Park Avenue, 53 West 53rd Street and several others. The building's bottom seven floors will host a massive Nordstrom department store—the city's first. The sprawling men's underwear section will provide an excellent place for families to picnic once Central Park has been devoured by shadows.

The project is expected to be completed in 2018.
