Yesterday's first "measurable" snow of winter was awesome for watching football in Philadelphia but pretty awful for anyone driving. Numerous accidents occurred, thanks to the slippery conditions, and the Bronx River Parkway was the scene of a particularly crazy pile-up.
The crash occurred around 11 p.m. near Desmond Avenue in Westchester County. According to the Journal News, "Yonkers police and firefighters teamed up with the county police along with multiple ambulances to clear the Desmond Avenue accident Sunday night. County police Lt. Tom Murphy said, "It was pretty amazing... I've never seen a pileup like this. It looked like a war zone."
Thirty-five people were injured, though luckily there were no serious injuries. Phillip Seacord of the Bronxville Department of Public Works told WCBS 2, "It could be bad, people need to watch out on the roads, a lot of black ice. Just go nice and slow and if you don’t have to be out, don’t come out here."
