A 49-year-old New Jersey resident was arrested at Newark Airport last week for allegedly trying to sneak marijuana wrapped in Mary Jane candy wrappers onto a flight, spawning more Dad-humor tabloid ledes any reasonable person should be expected to stomach on a Tuesday morning.

Port Authority spokesperson Joe Pentangelo told us in a statement that 49-year-old Gregory Murphy was arrested at around 5:10 p.m. on Friday, after a Port Authority officer found the weed in his checked luggage. The small quantity of marijuana (it was less than 50 grams) was discovered "artfully concealed" inside seven of the aforementioned candy wrappers in a Ziploc bag, according to TSA spokesperson Lisa Farbstein. Officers also found a baggie full of rolling papers in Murphy's luggage.

"Mary Jane," for those of you who took a few decades to decode that Tom Petty song, is a slang word for pot, so police officers may want to start checking every child's Magic 8-ball for cocaine.

Pantangelo says Murphy was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and is back in court on July 7th.
