A series of manhole explosions occurred in SoHo this afternoon, setting several cars on fire. The explosions happened just after 2 p.m. at 94 Prince Street, near Mercer Street. FDNY said that the fire is under control as of 2:43 p.m., there were no injuries, and "there's going to be an investigation" into what started the explosions. There were minor evacuations due to raised CO levels, but they're back to normal now; they also speculated that the cars may have been positionied over the manholes.
