A body was found wrapped in plastic on the roof of a McDonald's in The Bronx this morning, and the NYPD is investigating the death.
Police say that they responded to a 911 call around 6 a.m. on Wednesday about a person on the roof of the McDonald's located at 279 East 149th Street. Officers found an unidentified man unconscious and unresponsive, and wrapped up in a plastic bag. ABC7 reports that there was also "a heavy U-Haul blanket on top of it." He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police spokesperson noted that investigators were trying to determine if the man "was placed there, or if he fell from another roof."
Police sources told the NY Post that the initial 911 call reported that "only half a body was on the roof," but an NYPD spokesperson could not confirm that.
The city's Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
