Police have arrested the "hipster" who allegedly desecrated two angel statues outside a Williamsburg church, tracking him all the way to his Bushwick home. Andrew Oshesky, 28, has been charged with two counts of criminal mischief as a hate crime, two counts of criminal mischief for property damage, aggravated harassment, and public urination.

Around 4 a.m. on Sunday, December 2nd, Oshesky allegedly shambled up to the altar outside Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic Church at 184 Metropolitan Avenue, where the suspect was caught on camera. Security footage allegedly shows him fumbling with his waistband, peeing on two statues before grabbing them one after the other and shoving them from their pedestals. Content with the destruction, the man in the video wanders off into the night.

For reasons that are not immediately clear to me, these two statues attract undue attention from local drunkards. In December 2016, a passerby shattered one of the angels in a tipsy attempt to take a photo with them. Clambering up onto the altar, he lost his footing and slipped, taking down the figure and one of his bros in the fall. That incident marked at least the fifth instance of angel vandalism at the church since 2010.
