An MTA bus driver fatally struck a pedestrian as he crossed a Bronx Street at approximately 1:30 a.m. today. According to the NYPD, the unidentified man was killed at the intersection of East 147th Street and Willis Avenue; EMS arriving at the location found him with "severe trauma to the body" and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police say the driver of a BX15 bus was traveling northbound on Willis Avenue and turned left onto 147th Street, running over the pedestrian in the intersection. ABC 7 reports that the victim, a man in his 60s, "was unconscious and trapped underneath the bus, which had to be lifted off him."

The bus driver remained at the scene and has not been charged, but an MTA spokesman confirms the fatal incident is still under investigation.
