Last night, L train service was briefly suspended after a man was hit by a Manhattan-bound train at the Bedford Avenue subway station in Williamsburg.

According to the FDNY, the incident occurred just before 8 p.m. The man, described as in his 50s-60s by the NYPD, suffered multiple trauma and was taken to Bellevue Hospital in serious (but not likely to die) condition.

The NYPD says the cause of how he was struck is still under investigation, but a witness at the Bedford station Tweeted, "BE CAREFUL. Just watched a guy dance backward onto L train tracks just as it arrived from Manhattan at Bedford. He seems ok under train," adding, "The moment he fell was terrible. Thought he was a goner but he seemed to roll bw the tracks and platform and escape serious harm."

Please stay away from the platform edge—it's no joke.
