Subway riders on a downtown C train were stuck in a bloody nightmare this morning when a thief tried to rob one man and then stabbed another, before the train finally reached its destination.
Cops say that at around 6 a.m. today, a knife-wielding 39-year-old man on a southbound express C train leaving 125th Street tried to steal a knapsack and cellphone from a 28-year-old man.
When the 28-year-old fought back, the thief turned his attention to a 61-year-old man in the train car, stabbing him in the stomach multiple times. The 61-year-old man fought back as well according to police, hitting the thief in the head with a metal rod, which caused a cut on the thief's head. The bleeding stabbing victim was able to alert the conductor to what was going on, and police were waiting to arrest the thief when the train pulled into 59th Street.
