Police are looking for a man who allegedly slashed another passenger on a northbound A train at West 42nd Street yesterday afternoon.

Cops say the incident occurred at around 3:10 p.m. The victim, a 42-year-old male, got into an argument with the suspect onboard the train near 34 Street and 8th Avenue.

The suspect then allegedly cut the victim on the left side of his chest, forehead, shoulder, and arm, before fleeing the train at 42nd Street and 8th Avenue. The victim was transported to Cornell Medical Center and treated for his lacerations.

The NY Post reports the man was slashed after confronting a subway "preacher" who had been reading bible verses and making sexist remarks about women.

“[The preacher] got in people’s faces. He was saying nasty things to women, he was stepping on people," Kevin Sankar, 21, told the tabloid. "Then the guy who got cut stood up, and the whole train went crazy." Witnesses said it was unclear if the subway preacher was the culprit, or if the victim was slashed by someone else in the ensuing mayhem. But police sources tell NBC NY that their "preacher" is the suspect.

CBS 2 reports the victim told the screaming man to go to another car or get off the train—that's when he was attacked.

The victim's injuries were not life-threatening.

Cops say the man they are looking for is is a male, approximately 30-years of age, dark complexion, 6'0"-6'2" tall, 171-185 lbs., thin build, black dreadlocks hair and brown eyes, last seen wearing a black baseball hat, white sneakers, stripped shirt, and dark blue jeans.
