2017_06_unsqsubstab.pngA man who exited a downtown Manhattan subway station was assaulted on Saturday morning, according to police who released an image of the suspect.

The incident occurred at 11:40 a.m. on June 17. The victim, 29, was leaving the station when, police say, "the individual approached him from behind and used an unknown object to slash the victim on his back."

Authorities say that that the victim then chased his assailant into the back into the station, but the suspect "boarded a northbound '6' to parts unknown."

The victim was treated for his injuries at Beth Israel Hospital.

Police describe the suspect as being approximately 35-40 years of age who was last seen wearing a camouflage shirt and dark sunglasses.
