A man was slashed while waiting for a train at an Upper East Side subway platform in an apparent robbery attempt. According to police, the 23-year-old victim was waiting for the northbound 6 train at Lexington/59th Street Station just after 4 p.m. Saturday. The victim ended up in a dispute with two would-be robbers who slashed him in the face, chest and arm.

The News claims the two men were trying to snag the victim's cell phone and Beats by Dre head phones, while the Post says a subway worker told them, "They tried to shake him down. They asked him for money, and he said he didn’t have any, but they cut him anyway."

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he is in stable condition. No arrests have been made. This slashing came just a few hours after three people were stabbed and slashed by an intoxicated man at Grand Central Terminal.
