A 22-year-old man was shot multiple times during a street-level hoverboard deal set-up over Craigslist on the day after Thanksgiving. According to police, the unnamed victim had arranged to sell a number of hoverboards for $500 each on Friday, November 27th. Around 4 p.m., he met with five men who he believed were potential buyers outside a building at 104 West 138th Street.

A police spokesman says the victim showed his clients the five hoverboards he had stashed in the trunk of a car, and they, in turn, displayed $500 cash, presumably to win his confidence. But after the hoverboards were removed from the trunk, the deal devolved into gunfire.

Police say one of the customers shot the hoverboard dealer three times; twice in the abdomen and once in the buttocks. He was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition.

The hoverboard thieves fled on foot, according to the NYPD, and disappeared into 104 West 138th Street. Police searched for them, but came up empty-handed.

An NYPD spokesman says one person of interest is being sought and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

You can currently find hoverboards for sale on Craigslist for $500, but they're illegal and people are getting shot over them, so maybe it's safer to just drag your old Segway out of storage. Segways won't blow up your house.
