Just past midnight, police were called to a luxury apartment building in the Financial District. When they arrived, they found a man shot in the head inside 2 Gold Street. Max Moreno, a 21-year-old NJ resident, was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital.
According to WABC 7, Moreno was "reportedly shot in an apartment on the third floor" and police believe that he was "selling drugs to his killers," who apparently fled the building to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal. Additionally, WABC 7 spoke to a one resident who explained "many younger people are college students rent in the building, so the name of the tenant doesn't always match the name on the lease. Beacuse of that, the resident says, not all guests are signed in at the front desk like they are supposed to be. There are security cameras in the front of the building."
