A man was fatally crushed by a 2 train while riding between subway cars Friday morning, police said.
The 36-year-old man was killed on the elevated tracks of a northbound 2 train at the Simpson Street station in the Bronx, according to the police. His name has not yet been released.
"The man was riding behind two cars, when he fell and was struck by the train," a police spokesperson said. He was pronounced dead just after 4 a.m..
In 2005, the MTA board approved a rule change making it illegal to "move between end doors of a subway car whether or not train is in motion, except in an emergency or when directed by police officer or conductor." The fine for moving between cars is $75.
