A 26-year-old man was struck and killed in the Bronx early this morning by a truck that fled the scene. According to police, Jermaine Elliot was walking southbound on Barnes Avenue at the intersection of East 233rd Street at around 4:43 a.m. when a "white box truck" traveling northbound turned onto 233rd and struck him. Elliot, who lived two blocks from where he was struck, was later pronounced dead at Jacobi Hospital. "He was a cool kid," Elliot's friend, Vanessa Thompson, told the Daily News. "We hung out every day. He was like my little brother."
No arrests have been made, and the police investigation is ongoing.
