A man delivering sheetrock to a construction site in Jersey City was killed this morning when a tape measure fell on his head from a height of fifty stories. The tape measure, which reportedly weighed one pound, slipped off a contractor's belt as he worked on the fiftieth floor of the building. After ricocheting off some construction equipment, it struck the unnamed victim, who was not wearing a hardhat, knocking him unconscious.

The man died soon after the incident at Jersey City Medical Center. NJ.com reports that work has been halted at the site, located at 70-90 Columbus Drive, where developers are building a pair of residential towers and a hotel. Officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are currently conducting an investigation.
