A 42-year-old man who was struck—and ultimately, killed—by a Range Rover driver on the Upper East Side yesterday was crossing the street against the light when he slipped and fell, police say.

Queens resident Buddhi Thapa was crossing 2nd Avenue near East 89th Street around 12:53 p.m. when he was hit by a Range Rover driver traveling southbound on 2nd Avenue. He was taken to New York Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The crash is still under investigation, but investigators say the driver of the Range Rover remained at the scene and police do no suspect any criminality.
