The NYPD has charged a Hell's Kitchen man with the murder of a neighbor who was found dead in his bathtub earlier this week.

According to police, Khemraj Singh, 46, was found unconscious and unresponsive in the bathtub of his apartment at 375 West 48th Street at around 12:42 p.m. on Wednesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Daily News reports his bloody body, which had sustained several stab wounds, was found lying face-up and wrapped in a shower curtain. Investigators also reportedly found a pair of bloody scissors in the apartment, but have not yet confirmed whether they are the murder weapon.

Last night, the NYPD confirmed they had arrested Jeffrey Wong, 41, who lives just a block from Singh at 47th Street near 9th Avenue.

Singh was a member of Community Board 4, and elected officials who knew him have had nothing but kind words. "I was troubled and shocked,” Councilman Corey Johnson told CBS 2. “He was a tireless neighborhood activist who helped so many people.” Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer posted her condolences on her Facebook page, calling Singh "a valued member of Community Board 4 and a friend who loved political and civic issues."

The Medical Examiner's office is currently trying to determine Singh's cause of death. Wong has been charged with murder; his relationship to Singh is unclear.
